The spirit of generosity was alive and well at the 2025 Northeastern Minnesota (NEMN) Synod Assembly Gala, where attendees gathered in celebration, fellowship, and support of future ministry. A highlight of the evening was the fundraising efforts for the Emmaus Fund, including a silent auction, live auction, and a vibrant live donation segment.

During the live donation, Pastor Tim Ehling stood with emotion and pride as he raised his arms to announce a $5,000 gift from Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Wright, MN. The heartfelt donation honored the lasting legacy of a faith community that, while no longer gathering in its original form, continues to make a lasting impact.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church officially held its final worship and holy closure service on January 26, 2025, marking the end of a 112-year chapter of faithful ministry. The service drew nearly 200 people—members, friends, and neighboring congregations—who came together to bid farewell and celebrate the church’s enduring witness. Among the attendees were many from the Kettle River Conference Church Cooperative, who showed up in strong support and solidarity.

Proceeds from the gala benefitted the NEMN Synod’s Emmaus Fund, an endowment supporting leadership development, youth and young adult engagement, and congregational outreach. The fund provides micro-grants to spark new ministry programs and opportunities across the synod.

Bethlehem Lutheran’s final act of generosity ensures its story continues—not only in memory, but in action—by empowering future leaders and ministries through the Emmaus Fund.
